TKO has yet another Champion to add to our roster of title holders after Kelly Copeland took the IKF British Lightweight title on Sunday at the latest KOMBAT ZONE event held at Lordswood Leisure Centre.

Facing the experienced Jodie Whittaker Kelly’s performance was punch and kick perfect. With 30 seconds remaining of the fourth round her corner threw in the towel to save her from further punishment giving the title to Kelly. It was the best display of her career so far and comes less than 18 months from when she had her first fight. In that time she has been to Ireland and won there, been to America and won there and now sits with the British title belt around her waist. Alongside her training on the fight team Kelly is also a part of the teaching staff at the Medway Academy and was back there teaching the next day.

It was not all good news for the TKO team as George Hennon lost his unbeaten record in a challenge for the British Junior Featherweight title. Having beaten opponent Steven Raybould as recently as March he was favoured to win the rematch however this time it was Steven’s turn to take the win. This was well earned as Steven fought a great fight, however George will come again that’s for sure. He’s had an incredible busy year and will now take well earnt rest after 9 fights in 7 months

George’s brother Harry made a successful ring debut scoring a point’s win over a very tough Ian Moore from Ireland. Moore pushed hard all the way through but the greater movement and timing was always with Harry and the judges decision for him was never in doubt.

Bradley Fothergill and Tom Everard completed the wins for the TKO gym, both like Harry making their ring debuts and both winning clearly. Bradley against Dave Pickard from Gateshead whilst Tom dominated Danny Grant from Basildon.

The TKO team are next in action in just 2 weeks time when Patric Halforty takes part in a contest at the Excel centre in London which hosts Europe’s biggest Martial Arts event SENI and Patric will be participating in a special showcase contest on the day.

Thanks go to all members of the TKO Academy who came to support the team, it was much appreciated.

The TKO team have now completed their preparation and are ready to go to work at this coming Sunday’s big KOMBAT ZONE event.

The event which will take place at Lordswood Leisure Centre features the team in two title fights, an international clash as well as staging the debut full contact contests of 3 of the team.

Kelly Copeland fight for the IKF British lightweight title against a very strong fighter Jodie Whittaker. Jodie is an experienced fighter and represents Kelly’s toughest test to date.

George Hennon meets Steven Raybould for the IKF British Junior Featherweight title and most will know this is a rematch of their great fight in March so one not to miss. These are the two BEST junior fighters in the country, the last fight was fantastic and if you need proof of that then visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chFt8KHr1xk&list=UUWqRmfOGTMZDXMRmc7bzVQg&index=1&feature=plcp and watch for yourself.

Kay Sumner meets Stevie Pitt from Aerokick in a fight originally set for last September and we finally get to see these two fight here.

Jenna Yates meets Sarah Felton from Felling Warriors. Jenna first fight for a bit, in fact her first since she went to the IKF World Classic last July so she will be hoping to make a successful return to action.

Tom Everard and Bradley Fothergill make their debuts at the show, Tom meeting Basildon fighter Danny Grant whilst Bradley meets Danny Pickard

Last but not least Harry Hennon takes part in an International contest with Ian Moore from Ireland.

They have trained REALLY hard. I am very proud of all them, I could not have asked for more in the way they have prepared themselves.

SO…..GET BEHIND YOUR TEAM!!!!

If you’ve not got your tickets yet, don’t miss out. The easiest way to get them is simply by getting them online here, so navigate straight to the SHOP page

It’s just over a week to go before the next big KOMBAT ZONE event entitled ‘Next Generation’ and taking place at the Lordswood Leisure centre in Chatham, have you got your tickets yet to support the TKO team? They are working hard and deserve your full support.

Kelly Copeland goes for her first title and looks to keep her 100% unbeaten record when she meets experienced Jodie Whittaker from Basildon for the IKF British Lightweight title, this will be Kelly’s toughest test.

George Hennon also goes for his first title in a fight that we already know is guaranteed to be action filled as he meets Steve Raybould for the title IKF British Junior Featherweight title in a rematch from when these two met in the final of the KUMITE on 31st March. That was a GREAT fight and very very close, you will not want to miss these two go at it again.

George’s brother Harry makes his full contact debut in an International contest with Ian Moore from Ireland. Ian’s trainer says he is simply ‘ a very tough fighter’, a big challenge for Harry in his first big fight.

Kay Sumner having won her last contest in March goes for win number 4 when she meets Stevie Pitt from Birmingham, a fight that was originally scheduled to take place last September and now finally goes ahead on this event.

Jenna Yates comes back to ring action against Sarah Felton from Gateshead and we have two more fighters making their debut with Tom Everard and Bradley Fothergill both make their debuts on a packed undercard.

As along with these fights we also have James Gridley from our friends at Star Kickboxing defending his British title and a supporting bill full of the very best in Kickboxing this is a show NOT to be missed.

See you there!

TKO would like to thank Vinny Shoreman for giving a very interesting and enjoyable seminar at the weekend. It was one greatly appreciated by all those who attended the seminar hosted at our Maidstone location.

Vinny is a mind coach who has worked with some of the World’s best fighters however what he does is to be honest very hard to describe in words, you just had to be there. However one thing is for sure, what he does works and it has something to offer everyone whether you are an aspiring Champion or just someone that wants to improve themselves.

Those who attended the seminar were helped, informed and entertained by Vinny whose easy going approach to the subject made the time fly by. Immediately after the seminar I received numerous messages and phone calls from those attending to say how much they enjoyed it and so if you didn’t make this one you definitely missed out.

Keep an eye out for future seminars hosted by TKO. Last year we hosted Kickboxing legend Bill ‘Superfoot’ Wallace, this year it was Vinny. Who is next? Keep an eye on here and our TKO Academy Facebook page for news.

A great night was had by all at our latest event of the year and our second event of its kind and that was our Evening of White Collar Boxing, held once again at the Lordswood Leisure Centre.

Just a very good night with some fantastic fights and made easier because we were working with some of the best gyms around including our friends from Star KB, War 4 Sure, Punchout, Combat Freestyle, Dragon Boxing and Fight Factory. Much time had gone into the match making and this was evident in the competitive nature of all bouts with wins being taken by every gym present. The Fight of the night?…well for me that would go to the last fight of the between Ross Terry (TKO) and Rafe Daniels (Star KB) whose 3 round slugfest fittingly ended in the only draw of the night.

TKO were represented on the night by Ross, Steffan Gimza, Michael Malone, Michael Wagstaff, Richard Atkins and Nick Aish who accepted a fight on the day itself to help out as a fighter had been lost to injury and he was rewarded for his efforts with a win in a very close fight over Dragon Boxing’s Matt Russell.

There was some kicking going on during the night though as the crowd was entertained by a great kickboxing demonstration fight between Bradley Wray and Harry Hennon who will be back in action at Lordswood on May 13th when we return for KOMBAT ZONE – Next Generation

A GREAT night and thanks go to everyone involved.

Got it say it was a VERY good weekend to be the chief Instructor of the TKO Academy. We had just the best couple of days and I would like to thank all concerned. It started Saturday with team squad training as we are just 5 weeks away from the next big KOMBAT ZONE event on 13th May. Our line up that day will include Kelly Copeland, Harry Hennon, Tommy Everard, Jenna Yates, George Hennon, Kay Estelle Sumner, Bradley Fothergill and at this stage they are looking very fit and sharp and I’m very happy with their preparation. If you train at TKO make sure you come along and cheer them on, they are training HARD and deserve your support. Tickets are available from all Instructors.

In the afternoon we had our second TKO Interclub event of the year so far at the Medway Academy and this was a great success. We restricted it to people with less than 3 fights on their record and still had 25 fights. Thanks go to our good friends Jay Owers and Kelly Marie Owers at War 4 Sure and Paul Haworth-Star Kickboxing at Star Kickboxing for their support. As a way to introduce everyone to competition they work really well and we will hold another such event in a few months time.

Sunday started with our latest junior grading and this for me was just very enjoyable and all the kids involved showed great enthusiasm. Most of them are not taught by me on a day to day basis but by Martina Jones and I’m very proud of the success she has with her classes. They are packed, we lose very few students throughout the year in our junior program and the juniors are courteous, respectful and a credit to all of us at TKO…PLUS they kick and punch like champions! As an instructor you always want to produce people better than you and I’ve certainly done that with Martina whose a GREAT Instructor.

And finally and also on Sunday we sent a team of 6 fighters to the big Light continuous Kickboxing event in Bury St Edmunds under the charge of coaches Kelly Copeland and George Hennon. We had 4 wins and 2 losses in close tough fights and everyone fought very well. Well done to the team of Tyler Oxford, Jenson Rowley, Phoebe Dawson, Shannon Beaney, Harry Hennon and Bradley Wray…Thanks go to Pete Dunnet for a well run event.

And thanks once again from me to everyone, the students in our classes, the fight team, the juniors at the grading and the coaches for their assistance. A BUSY week ahead, hopefully it will be as successful and enjoyable as this weekend was

Our picture shows Jenson Rowley on his way to victory.
